Home › Installation › Samsung & LG TV
This is the neatest install of the lot: no extra hardware, no sideloading, no cables. IBO Player is carried in both the Samsung and LG stores, so the television handles everything by itself.
Samsung & LG TV
Samsung televisions run Tizen and LG televisions run webOS, and neither is Android. That normally makes life harder, because most streaming apps are built Android-first and the alternatives on these platforms thin out badly.
IBO Player is the exception. It is published in both stores, which means the install is a genuine search-and-tap with no permissions to change, no unknown sources to enable and no developer menu to unlock. For a household that wants one remote and no extra box under the television, this is the ideal route.
The interface is straightforward once it is running. Searching, finding and starting content works the way a television remote expects it to, rather than the way a phone app has been squeezed onto a big screen.
Before you begin. Keep your welcome email open. Every step needs the same three values from it: the server address including its port number, your username and your password. Copy them precisely: a stray space caught on the end is what trips up most first logins.
Pick the guide that matches the screen you are setting up.
Work through these in order. Every value you need comes from your CanadTV welcome email.
On an LG set, open the LG Content Store from the home bar. On a Samsung set, open the Apps tile from the home row. Both live on the main launcher and need nothing enabled first.
Select the magnifier icon, usually at the top right of the store, and type IBO Player. Take care in the results: several apps carry similar names. Choose the one published by IBODEV and ignore the near-matches.
Choose Install. When it finishes, select Launch rather than returning to the home screen — it saves hunting for the icon afterwards. A welcome message appears on first run; accept it to continue.
Open the profile icon on the dashboard and look at the Device Info block in the top-left corner. Record the MAC address and the device key exactly as displayed. Photographing the screen with a phone is far quicker than copying them by hand.
On a phone or computer browser, open the IBO Player website and choose Manage Playlist. Enter the MAC address and device key you just recorded. This pairing model is what spares you typing a password with a television remote.
Choose Add XC Playlist. Enter a playlist name of your choosing, then your CanadTV username, password and the server address including its port number, exactly as they appear in your welcome email. Save the entry.
Return to the television. The app may ask for permission to reach the network — accept it. Close IBO Player completely and reopen it. Live TV, Movies and Series now carry your content and the programme guide populates automatically.
Open Settings, then Manage Categories, and switch off the groups you will never open — on a television this makes far more difference than it does on a phone. Add your regular channels to favourites so they sit at the top of the grid.
Look at the publisher name rather than the icon. Only the IBODEV release pairs with the playlist manager described here; the lookalikes will not accept your device key.
The television has not refreshed its pairing. Close the app fully from the recent-apps view and reopen it. Older Tizen and webOS builds sometimes need the set powered off at the wall for ten seconds.
Give it a few minutes on first run — EPG data downloads in the background. If it is still empty, clear the cache in Settings and reopen; this rebuilds the guide without touching the playlist.
Everything now runs from the one remote. Remember the single-device rule: pairing the television releases any other device that was previously active on the line.
Browse everything now available to you on the channel lineup page, and read the main IBO Player guide for the platform-independent detail on settings, favourites and player engines.
